Shannon Baker Davis, ACE is an award-winning television editor. She began her career in New York, editing unscripted shows and documentaries, most notably the two time Emmy-awarded, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List. After 10 years working on many iconic shows such as Top Chef and Project Runway, Shannon made the jump to scripted television and feature films. Her most recent credits include Insecure, from Issa Rae, Grown-ish, a spin-off of the highly acclaimed series, Black-ish, from creator, Kenya Barris and Queen Sugar, from creator Ava DuVernay.

Manhattan Edit Workshop (MEWShop), the cutting-edge, digital-training destination for post-production and content creators, has transitioned its acclaimed Six Week Intensive Workshop to include Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer and After Effects.  Following industry trends, MEWShop will be migrating the course from including Apple® Final Cut Pro® to Adobe® Premiere® Pro. In addition, the Six Week Intensive offers training in Adobe® After Effects and Avid Media Composer as well as daily lessons in film theory and aesthetics. Sight, Sound & Story: The Art of Cinematography 2017

After EditFest NY moved to London, Manhattan Edit Workshop picked up the reins with its Sight, Sound & Story (SS&S) conferences. The first post production event premiered in June of 2013. The format was similar — top-of-their-craft editors and post specialists participating in panels focusing on specific areas of the industry. Over the years there have been great panels on TV editing, sound effects and audio editing, VFX and virtual reality. I have attended these events since they began. They are a great chance to get inspired, learn more about my industry and meet great people.

During a wide-ranging discussion at Saturday's Sight, Sound & Story panel in New York, Academy Award-nominated editor Dylan Tichenor, ACE revealed to moderator Bobbie O'Steen that he first began to comprehend film editing while watching classic films like Nosferatu with his father. It was during these formative viewing experiences—including holding a piece of film from Orson Welles' The Magnificent Ambersons up to the light—that Tichenor realized movies were composed of different shots.
